Police are asking for help from the public in identifying a man and a child. They say the pair tried to break into the Huntington Bank ATM machine at 340 South Main Street. It happened January 16 around 4 p.m.
The adult is a thin, older white male with gray hair wearing a black jacket, gray sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black shoes. He was carrying a silver clipboard.
The boy is approximately eight to 11-years-old. He was wearing a black and gray jacket, red shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes. He was carrying tools in his hands.
Police say both took turns over a period of minutes breaking into the machine. They took off in a newer dark color Nissan Altima.
Anyone who can identify either of these people is asked to call Franklin Police at 937-746-2882.

Lou Imundo and his eight-year-old daughter Sophia of West Carrollton were among the 500 people who attended the 2012 Reds Caravan Sunday.
The caravan stopped at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Lou said Sophia brought her autographed baseball along for some new signatures. The highly-sought scribblings of Reds broadcaster Thom Brennamen and Major League Baseball hall of famer Tom Browning were among the latest additions to a ball that had already garnered signatures from the likes of Jay Bruce and Yonder Alonso.
It was a father-daughter day for the pair, which began with a waffle breakfast at home.
“This has been excellent,” Lou said. “It was kind of close to our house and our Sunday mornings are usually pretty free.”
Sophia, wearing a Reds jersey that nearly stretched down to her knees, got to talk with Reds chief operating officer Phil Castellini about Rosie Red and other mascots.
When asked if she thought she’d turn into a lifelong fan like her father, she replied, “I would have to say yes.”
Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco was impressed by the number of people on hand. “Heck of a turnout. I’d say the highlight was just being in this cool place with all of these planes.”
The event was held in a large hanger featuring planes from the Korean and Vietnam war eras, including a sleek Lockheed Martin F-22A Raptor just to the right of a stage in which participants sat.
General manager Walt Jocketty said that most questions from fans concerned first baseman Joey Votto and second baseman Brandon Phillips. He said fans want to know if the ball club will resign both men.
“We’re working on it” he said. “That’s the next order of business.”

Someone walking on the bike trail near Corry Street found the body of a white male in his mid-50s Sunday morning. Police were called to the scene around 8:10 a.m.
Investigator Naomi Penrod says that the body was half on the trail, and half in the grass. A .38 caliber revolver was found nearby. She says the victim died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
The body has been taken to the Montgomery County Coroner's office where an autopsy is expected Monday.
The case remains under investigation.
